Mississippi State holds off the Hogs
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State was riding high coming into Thursday night's contest and quickly jumped out to a commanding 19-point lead in the first half.
But the Bulldogs had to survive a second half surge by Arkansas to pick up an 82-80 victory to being conference play at 2-0.
"For the most part we came out ready to play," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "If we hadn't you know what the result would have been. So I'm proud of our kids for being ready. For the most part tonight I thought we kept the game separated. We defended and rebounded. I thought late in the game during those last three to four minutes we missed some free throws and they made a couple of plays to get back in it and make it exciting."
