Knox's tip-in lifts Tigers over Cavaliers
Brendon Knox's tip-in with 1.4 seconds left gave Auburn a dramatic 68-67 win over Virginia Monday night at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.
Trailing by one with 7.7 seconds remaining, DeWayne Reed drove the lane and had his off-balance layup roll off the rim but Knox was there for the tip-in to give the Tigers a much-needed win three days after a 81-77 loss to Troy.
"The play was meant for me to screen for DeWayne Reed and once I screen for him I just follow him," Knox said. "I saw it come off. I saw an opportunity to get a put-back and help my team win.
"It feels good."
Knox's tip-in came just moments after missing the front end of a 1-and-1 with AU leading 66-64 and 31 second left. He was 1-of-7 from the free throw line.
