White visits MSU, considering four
Though Michigan State has a commitment from Chelsea (Mich.) three-star running back Nick Hill, the Spartans' need to add another running back in the 2010 recruiting class has become more important in recent weeks.
One-time starter Caulton Ray and reserve Andre Anderson were "removed from the active roster" in late-October, while today it was learned that Glenn Winston, who was lost for the season after sustaining a knee injury in a 24-14 win at Illinois, has been kicked off the team "for a violation of team rules."
So far this fall the Spartans have hosted two running backs on official visits, the first being four-star rated Storm Johnson (Loganville, Ga.), who is now a Miami-FL commitment, and this past weekend three-star rated James C. White (5-10, 196) of St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., was in East Lansing to see MSU play Penn State.
White was on campus earlier this year, during an unofficial visit for the spring game. This time around he saw more of the campus, met with people on the academic side of things and enjoyed the game day atmosphere.
"It was very good overall," White said of the visit, which was his third official of the recruiting process. He has been to Iowa and Wisconsin and unofficially visited Clemson this fall.
"I just got to see the whole game day atmosphere, how the fans are, the student section and I got to see where the business school is and pretty much the whole campus, the dorms and everything like that, which I didn't get to see the first time."
