Improving run defense critical for Auburn
If Auburn is going to pull off an upset over No. 2 Alabama, one area the Tigers will have to improve on before next Friday is run defense.
Auburn's run defense is ranked 10th in the SEC and 91st nationally giving up 169.7 yards per game. Led by Heisman Trophy candidate Mark Ingram, the Tide is 3rd in the SEC and 13th nationally in rushing offense averaging 216.9 yards per game.
"We know playing this game, against a great running team, it's definitely something we've been working on getting better every day," defensive tackle Mike Blanc said.
"They got a really good running back and a real good offensive line too."
Defensive coordinator Ted Roof said he went back and looked at all 11 games to identify the areas they needed to shore up the most in order to improve their run defense.
