Southeastern Louisiana preview
Mississippi State will return to the court tonight at Humphrey Coliseum hoping to atone from their 88-74 loss at the hands of Rider in the season opener.
The previously ranked 18th Bulldogs fell out of the Top 25 following the defeat and are now set to host Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m.
MSU and head coach Rick Stansbury are hoping to avoid a 0-2 start for the first time since 1967-68. They have not lost consecutive home games since 2006-07.
The Bulldogs hold the series lead 16-1 over Southeastern Louisiana winning those contests by an average margin of 25.5 points. State sports a 36-3 record against teams from the Southland Conference. MSU won their last matchup in 2008 84-59 in Starkville.
The Bulldogs scored 74 points in their opener shooting 41.9-percent from the field. Mississippi State made only 37-percent of their shots from the outside and 63.2-percent from the charity stripe. They gave up 88 points and were outrebounded by one in their loss to the Broncs.
