Nothing rivals it
South Bend, Ind.- This wasn't just a game. This was THE game.
There's a prevalent theory that both sides need to have success in order for there to be a rivalry. And anyone who watched Saturday's game between USC and Notre Dame saw just why that theory is as phony as three-dollar bill.
With a 34-27 win Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium, the Trojans ran their win streak against the Irish to eight games. Still, there's no doubt that this is one of the premiere rivalries in college football.
And while the close score certainly made the game more fun to watch (and to write about), it had zero to do with what makes this game special.
