Johnson getting acquainted in Starkville
Three-star wide receiver Malcolm Johnson has been getting familiar with his future surroundings.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder from Tuscaloosa, Ala., has made the trip to Mississippi State for the Bulldogs three-game homestand giving him high hopes for next season.
"I like the atmosphere," Johnson said. "The fans like Dan Mullen and they have great expectations. Their coaching staff is great and he's building a good program for the next two or three years if not next year. We're going to be a good program competing in the SEC. I know they have a lot of good receivers so hopefully next year I can come in and step into the rotation."
Johnson committed to MSU after attending the Big Dawgs Camp on July 24.
So far this season, Johnson has hauled in 26 catches for 482 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also carried 16 times for 88 yards and four more scores for Northridge, who is 3-4 on the year.
"The season is going alright," Johnson said. "It could be better. We're losing close games that we should win but that's the season, you've got to takes the ups and downs. That is what makes winning so fun."
Last week Johnson had five catches for 57 yards, six rushes for negative three yards and one touchdown, returned two punts for 40 yards and also had a two-point conversion catch in a 28-14 loss to undefeated Jess Lanier.
